Jordan Rossiter, an ex-Rangers player, wore a Celtic top to Liverpool training because the Everton fan “couldn’t bear” wearing the club’s jersey.

That’s according to English coach Karl Robinson, who worked in the Liverpool Academy when Jordan Rossiter was a youngster there.

Robinson claims Jordan Rossiter wore a Celtic top as an alternative because his Everton allegiances almost got him in trouble when he wanted to wear Goodison Park blue at training.

“He was a massive Everton fan so we had to ban him from wearing an Everton kit in the gym,” Robinson told the I Had Trials Once podcast.

“But he hated Liverpool so much that he would just wear Celtic kit instead because he couldn’t bear to put a Liverpool kit on.

“He refused to wear the Liverpool kit because he was such a big Everton fan and that isn’t uncommon because so many players in the Liverpool academy who were local would’ve been Everton fans.

“I’m sure it would have been the same at Everton’s academy where they would have had lads who were massive Liverpool fans.”

Rangers fans will be relieved that Jordan Rossiter did not wear a Celtic jersey while playing for the Ibrox club.

Jordan Rossiter, now 26 years old, joined Rangers in 2016 after the club was promoted back to the Scottish Premiership.

After breaking through at Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers, there were high expectations for the youngster in Glasgow, and then-manager Mark Warburton appeared to have struck a good deal.

However, Jordan Rossiter’s time in Glasgow was marred by injuries, and the midfielder only made 16 appearances in four seasons at Ibrox.

While still on the Rangers books, the midfielder had loan spells at Bury and Fleetwood, but he struggled to make an impact on the Ibrox squad.

Jordan Rossiter spent two years at Fleetwood Town before joining Bristol Rovers on a permanent basis at the end of his contract in 2020.

Jordan’s contract with the English League One club is still active, but he hasn’t played since October 2022, due to yet another long-term injury.

In other news, Plastic pitches could be banned in the SPFL Premiership next season.
