Gareth Southgate has made big England blunder by omitting £100k-a-week Everton man ahead of European Championships

Over the past few years, one man has been responsible for representing Everton at the English national team, and he has generally performed admirably.

Despite his clear advantages, Jordan Pickford is a character that mysteriously attracts a lot of attention.
He is a skillful shot-stopper who plays the ball well. Over the past five or so seasons, he has nearly entirely eliminated his tendency to be rash and reckless.

Although he occasionally makes mistakes, he has never done so while wearing an England shirt, so many people think he only plays for his country. Those who make such a naive assertion will be glad to hear from Evertons that it is not at all true.

It felt like someone was missing, though, even with Jarrad Branthwaite joining him in Gareth Southgate’s preliminary 33-man England squad ahead of the European Championships.

James Tarkowski should have been selected by Gareth Southgate.
The 21-year-old defender for Everton has been dominant this season and a constant in a defence that has been steadfast all season.

Despite his physical prowess—he has a massive frame and a lightning-fast recovery rate—he is also prone to making mistakes from time to time.
Throughout the season, the goalie and his defensive partner have done a good job of covering that, but James Tarkowski has continued to go unnoticed.

How Tarkowski Fell For 'Special' Everton
Although the 31-year-old stalwart has already shown to be one of the club’s best acquisitions in recent memory, his ability to organise and lead those around him is perhaps even more valuable than his impressive technical and physical skills.

Therefore, even though Southgate deserves praise for remaining with Branthwaite, it’s possible that he would have thought about a clean sheet to acknowledge Everton’s outstanding defence during a trying season.

The back three of Everton should have advanced to the Euros.
To begin with, all three of the aforementioned Toffees deserved to be included in this interim squad, if nothing else than to be commended for their excellent work.
Since one or two of Branthwaite, Lewis Dunk, Harry Maguire, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guehi, John Stones, Jarell Quansah, or Joe Gomez won’t be travelling, it’s likely that Southgate already knows his official squad.

In Numbers: Tarkowski's First Year At Everton
It is noteworthy that even though their teams finished far ahead of Everton, the last three mentioned defenders all gave up more goals in their respective teams.

Furthermore, due to youth and injuries, Quansah and Stones were hardly ever the main players on their teams.

While they filled in the gaps, Everton’s vice captain had the entire world at his disposal.
Tarkowski’s 7.32 average rating was maintained by an impressive 78% pass accuracy, 1.6 tackles, 4.9 clearances, and 4.9 ball recoveries per game, which led to his inclusion in the Sofascore Team of the Season.

It’s possible that Sean Dyche, the £100k-a-week colossus, wasn’t even on the plane when England played in Germany. However, his exceptional form was far better than many of those who were included, so it’s still unclear why he’s still not included.
