In addition to being a kind gesture overall, Toffolo’s leadership role at Forest will ensure that his remarks have greater influence than others, providing Gardner with the ideal boost to get off to a quick start.

Because of Toffolo’s influence in the dressing room, which should benefit Gardner, Forest chose to hold onto him even though he hasn’t made a single Premier League start this season.
