Hatate breaks Celtic silence following Japan’s injury blow.
Reo Hatate has broken his silence following a major injury sustained while on international duty.
The Celtic midfielder has been sidelined for up to six weeks due to a problem with both of his calves.
Hatate, 26, had been called up alongside fellow Celtic star Daizen Maeda. However, his tournament took a turn for the worse when he limped out against Bahrain.
Japan was later eliminated from the tournament in the round of 16, as Iran defeated the Samurai Blue 2-1.
Hatate has now reflected on the tournament and his injury blow, writing on Instagram, “I’m lacking in contributing to the team.” “Accept reality and continue fighting.”Thank you for your support of the Asia Cup.”
Brendan Rodgers commented on the major injury concern, saying, “It appears that he has actually done both calves, from what I have seen, so he will probably be out for five to six weeks.
“Another part of the season where we’ve had no luck with injuries to our top players. He will return very soon, and we will begin treatment to get him back as soon as possible.”
Japan’s boss, Hajime Moriyasu, had stated, “I want to hear the doctor’s diagnosis.
“However, it hurts both the players and the team when someone is injured, but regardless of who is injured, we need to keep the game going and win.” I think today’s match boosted my confidence.”
