‘Head has gone’ – Brennan Johnson Ex Nottingham star recalls how one Spurs star made him very angry
Do you recall when Richarlison began kicking out against Nottingham Forest during the 2022–2023 season, and Brennan Johnson slapped him for it? Although Brennan Johnson says he is still close friends with the Spurs forward, he does recall it clearly.
When Richarlison was first starting for Tottenham back in August 2022, he had just set up Harry Kane for the team’s second goal against Forest with a brilliant cross, ending the match.
Shortly after, the Brazilian made the decision to perform a few kick-ups in the centre of the field. Was this a time waster? Being arrogant? a little of both? Most likely, but at the time, it didn’t sit well with football fans.
Brennan Johnson was not pleased either, so he chose to smash into the Spurs player to let Richarlison know how furious he was.
These days, Johnson enjoys playing with Richarlison.
Naturally, Johnson is now a player for the Spurs, and he recently discussed that incident with the social media team.
“I have clear memories of this day. I think it was near the end of the game, but I was already overjoyed at the outcome when Richy entered the game as we were losing. I love playing with him,” Johnson recalled.
“I was playing up front when I saw him do the kick-ups, so I shouldn’t have been anywhere close to coming back that far, but I immediately thought, ‘My head has gone here, I’m going to have to run over and tackle and him,'” he continued.
However, the tackle didn’t quite work out. The ball was then passed to me, and as soon as it was a 50/50, I realised I couldn’t lose,” Johnson remarked. “But that’s behind us now that he and I are teammates and obviously friends!”
