Over the international break, both Lewis Miller and Martin Boyle put in strong displays for the Socceroos – read on for our round-up!

The Socceroos began their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign with victories against Bangladesh and Palestine.

Lewis Miller made his competitive debut for his country, playing the entire 90-minute match against Bangladesh in Melbourne.

Miller commemorated the event by assisting former Hibee Jamie Maclaren in the second half. Hibernian’s right-back also created four chances, won 11 duels, and was named Player of the Match.

Martin Boyle was kept out of Australia’s 7-0 victory as a precaution, but he returned for their 1-0 victory over Palestine in Kuwait.

Boyler started the game and played for just over an hour before linking up with fellow club teammate Miller, who played another 70 minutes.

With six points from their first two games in the Second Stage of the Asia qualification path, Australia now leads Group I.

Hibs midfielder Nohan Kenneh, who is now on loan at Shrewsbury Town, was also in action during the break.

The 20-year-old played the entire 90 minutes of Liberia’s first World Cup qualifier, which ended in a 1-0 defeat to Malawi.

Unfortunately, Kenneh collected two yellow cards three days later against Equatorial Guinea in another 1-0 loss.

Elsewhere Rocky Bushiri (DR Congo) and Jojo Wollacott (Ghana) were both members of international camps on the other side of the window.

Jojo came off the bench in each of Ghana’s first two World Cup qualifiers, winning 1-0 over Madagascar and losing 1-0 to Comoros.

Rocky was also an unused replacement for DR Congo, who won 2-0 against Mauritania before losing 1-0 to Sudan in their first two matches.

Finally, Rory Whittaker was called up for the first time to the Scotland U19 squad.

Despite not playing in any of the three qualification matches, Rory, 16, will have gained a lot of vital experience from another successful Scotland camp.

The Young Scots finished first in their group, drawing 0-0 with Bulgaria before defeating Andorra (3-1) and Serbia (2-1) to advance to the Elite Round of the European Championships in March 2024.
