“His hamstring”: Brendan Rodgers may have bad news for Celtic fans.

Brendan Rodgers provides an injury update on Stephen Welsh following Celtic’s win. Hibernian’s Gustav Lagerbielke was kept at Celtic in January for a reason, despite not being a top priority for Brendan Rodgers.

There was talk of the summer signing leaving last month, but another injury setback for Cameron Carter-Vickers kept him on board.
Another reason Gustaf Lagerbielke stayed is that Stephen Welsh may have suffered an injury during Celtic’s win over Hibernian on Wednesday night.

Brendan Rodgers told Sky Sports after the match that the 24-year-old was taken off because he ‘felt tight in his hamstring’.

Fans will learn the true extent of his problems today (Thursday) after the medical team examines him.

In truth, Stephen Welsh wasn’t exactly pulling up trees when he was sent off shortly after the hour mark on a yellow card.

However, it appears that Brendan Rodgers will be forced to rotate his backline for the umpteenth time, not to mention Alistair Johnston’s head injury.

“He felt tight in his hamstring,” Rodgers explained. “So, we will have to see that with the medical team tomorrow (Thursday).”

Brendan Rodgers should have more faith in Maik Nawrocki.
Despite starting the draw at Aberdeen, the Polish defender was unexpectedly named to the bench for the Easter Road trip.

Celtic paid a high price for him, and he should be given more opportunities to show what he is capable of.

If he is constantly in and out, his game will lack rhythm, he will make mistakes, and you will not see his best side.
So, while Welsh’s potential injury is disappointing, it should provide an opportunity for Nawrocki to get a proper run of games.
