Honduran coach reveals Palma injury concern

The last thing Brendan Rodgers wants to hear is that Luis Palma is injured.

On Friday night, the Celtic winger contributed to Honduras’ 2-0 victory over Mexico in a two-legged Nations League play-off.

The two countries meet again on Tuesday night in Mexico City, but Honduran coach Reinaldo Rueda is concerned about a couple of injuries.

According to the Honduran website Diez, Ruenda stated:

Players in doubt: “Luis Vega has a discomfort in his shoulder, and a small discomfort that Luis Palma has in a duel he had with Sánchez, we have those situations, today we will have our first training session. Yesterday recovery work was done, all joint mobility was stimulated and there we will see the evolution of the entire group.”

Honduran Luis Palma will play for Aris in Greece

It could just be mental gymnastics ahead of Tuesday’s match, which appears to have some needle left over from Friday’s first leg in Honduras.

Palma, if he plays, will fly from Mexico to London, then to Glasgow, before reporting to Lennoxtown for Saturday’s match against Motherwell.

With Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda out injured, Rodgers will rely heavily on Palma for goals and assists in the coming weeks.

The Honduran winger is suspended for next week’s Champions League match against Lazio, which comes before Celtic’s busy December schedule.
