“I am a fan of them” Sydney van Hooijdonk comments on Celtic transfer rumours.
Norwich City striker Sydney van Hooijdonk has spoken out about Celtic’s transfer saga last month, which ended when the club decided to sign Adam Idah. Van Hooijdonk was heavily linked in both the January and summer transfer windows, and his move to Norwich City allowed Idah to join the Scottish Champions.
SVH, Pierre’s son, stated that he did not speak with Celtic this year but admits that he is a fan of the club, even though he is glad he moved to Norwich.
“To be honest, I didn’t speak with Celtic this winter. You see a lot of things, but this winter, I didn’t speak with them. Yes, last summer, there was a bit,” van Hooijdonk told East Anglian outlet Pink Un.
“It is a lovely club, and I am a fan of them as well, but the Championship and a team that is fighting for the play-offs was really nice.
“This league is at a higher level than that league, so I’m really happy to be here.”
Since joining Carrow Road on loan with the option to buy, the Dutchman has yet to score and has only made three substitute appearances for David Wagner’s team.
Celtic have been offered van Hooijdonk twice, but they have declined, preferring to pursue other targets. The decision to go with Idah has paid off, with the player scoring five goals and assisting once in six appearances. While the club has no plans to buy, if Idah continues to impress, Celtic will look to sign him on a permanent basis.
