MARCO TILIO insists he thought he was ready to make a splash when he moved to Celtic from Melbourne City in June for £2 million over five years.
However, the 22-year-old forward failed to impress manager Brendan Rodgers, and he returned to the A-League club on loan last month.
Tilio expected to hit the ground running when he arrived in Scotland, but an injury thwarted his plans to make an immediate impact with the champions.

Celtic's Marco Tilio wanted for Australia loan return in January
The exciting touchline ace stated, “I went away with the Australia Under-23s and got injured.” “I expected a week-long injury.”I signed a contract with Celtic, and then I was injured and out for three months.
“So, it doesn’t help, and then you’re competing with eight or nine other wingers who are just as good, if not better, and it was always going to be a difficult road trying to get into Celtic’s team, and I was constantly playing catch-up.
I never spoke to Ange,' says Tilio - BBC Sport
“But I believed I was prepared to leave Australia. I’d completed my time here and thought I had done exceptionally well. I thought I was prepared after all of the build-up until I made the decision to go there.”
Tilio appeared for the Hoops for only 28 minutes, coming on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Motherwell and the 4-1 win over Hibs.

The raider told the Daily Record, “It was a tough six months for my football, but it’s always a learning curve for me. We’ll see what happens in the future.”But, no, I do not believe I left Australia too early. Now is an important six-month period for me. I’d like to help Australia qualify for another Olympics.

“That would be pretty special and played a big factor in my return.”

Tilio scored 20 goals and assisted 19 times in 86 games for City, helping them win one Championship and a record-breaking three consecutive Premiership titles.

He is scheduled to return to Celtic in July.
