The 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international powerhouse kicked off the title celebrations in midweek, scoring in the fifth minute of a 5-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Twenty-four hours after Idah scored in Ayrshire, his parent club suffered a four-goal defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road in the second leg of their Championship Play-Off semi-final.

The defeat came after a scoreless draw at Carrow Road in the first meeting, and it ended the East Anglian club’s aspirations of returning to the Premier League.

Ironically, Sydney van Hooijdonk, the son of former Hoops goal hero Pierre, struck another blank against the Yorkshire club.

The Dutchman, who was set to leave Serie A club Bologna at the turn of the year, was connected with the Parkhead club during the January transfer window, but Brendan Rodgers quickly dismissed the idea.

The frontman eventually joined David Warner’s team, allowing Idah to sign a short-term agreement with Celtic.

With two games remaining, the Cork-born striker is on the verge of reaching double figures, facing St Mirren at Parkhead today at 12.30pm and Rangers in the Scottish Cup Final a week later at Hampden.

Van Hooijdonk, on the other hand, has not scored a single goal for Norwich in 12 games.

Brendan Rodgers appears to have done well in business.
