Taiwo Awoniyi, a Super Eagles striker, is set to return to action for Nottingham Forest when they face Arsenal at the City Ground on Tuesday, Faxsoccer.com reports.

Awoniyi had a promising start to the season for Nottingham Forest, scoring four goals and assisting twice in his first ten Premier League appearances.

However, his fitness was constantly called into question due to his discomfort. Unfortunately, it came to a head in November, when he had to have surgery.

This injury kept him out of the Africa Cup of Nations, and he has also missed the Tricky Trees’ last twelve matches.

Awoniyi has been sidelined for the past six weeks, but he appears to be returning to action soon. Coach Espirito Santo has revealed to the Nottingham Post that Awoniyi has returned to training ahead of Nottingham Forest’s game against Arsenal at City Ground on Tuesday.

Furthermore, sources close to Awoniyi have told Faxsoccer that the 26-year-old attacker was supposed to make the squad for Nottingham Forest’s match against Bristol City. Nonetheless, he was unable to arrive on time due to a lack of physical fitness. He may, however, be named to the bench against Arsenal on Tuesday.

Awoniyi scored off the bench in Nottingham Forest’s previous match against Arsenal. Coach Espirito Santo will be hoping that the Nigerian can deliver another impressive performance against Arsenal.
