Elena Sadiku announced yesterday that Paula Partido will be out for the rest of the season due to a foot injury sustained against Glasgow City, after her side returned to the top of the SWPL1 with a 5-0 victory over Hearts at Celtic Park.

Partido’s absence on recent team sheets had left supporters wondering where she had gone. The Celtic Star talked with the manager after yesterday’s game and took the opportunity to inquire about the Real Madrid loan player.

Elena stated: “Paula Partido is out for the rest of the season. It was a foot injury against Glasgow City.”

The 19-year-old went through the 2023/24 season on loan at Celtic from Real Madrid and has shown promise. In 23 games, she has three goals, eight assists, and 430 successful passes.

Although she is expected to return to her parent club at the end of the season, she has been a valuable addition to Celts throughout their successful season, and perhaps the club will hold a special place in her heart for the rest of her career.

Celya Barclais was playing in Partido’s normal position yesterday afternoon, and she looked good. Her presence was daunting, and she left an indelible impression on Paradise with some impressive offensive movements.

Celtic FC Women lead the table for the second week in a row after defeating Hearts 5-0, ahead of Rangers Women by two points and 16 goal difference. Although SWPL activity will be paused for a week to see if the Ghirls can advance to the Scottish Cup final, we will resume on May 1st against Glasgow City. With only five games remaining, we cannot afford to lose points, so we must maintain our winning streak.

The Women’s Scottish Cup semi-final takes place at Hampden on Saturday in the early kick-off, and the opponents are the Rangers Women, who will be out for retribution after Celtic’s magnificent triumph over Saturday’s opponents in last season’s Women Scottish Cup Final.

Celtic FC Women are seeking to win the Women’s Scottish Cup for the third time in a straight, and a large Celtic crowd, similar to that seen in the 2023 Final, would be a huge boost for Elena Sadiku’s team.
