“It’s close” – Sky Sports reporter reveals excitement on West Ham transfer

West Ham United is searching for a new right-back this summer, and they are currently in talks with Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Julen Lopetegui, the club’s new manager, is making significant changes this summer after taking over from David Moyes.

Since his arrival, the Hammers have signed players in a variety of positions, strengthening their roster.

The east Londoners are hoping to improve on their Premier League top half position last season, and the Hammers administration believes Lopetegui is the best man to lead the team ahead.

West Ham United were interested in signing Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui, but were unable to reach an agreement with him.

They are now pursuing a transfer for Wan-Bissaka, whom Manchester United is eager to sell because he is in the final year of his contract.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth told GiveMeSport that the English full-back’s transfer to the London Stadium could materialize shortly.

He said:

“As far as Aaron Wan-Bissaka is concerned, personal terms still need to be agreed with him.

“But, as things stand, the deal has not been fully agreed upon, so Manchester United believes that until it is, he will remain a Manchester United player.”

“So it’s close and moving. Discussions are ongoing. We’re still hoping, as of now, with cautious optimism that that one will happen.”

The Manchester United right-back is regarded for his defensive abilities, and West Ham require consistency at the back.

Their defense has been poor for a long time, most notably last season, when they conceded 74 Premier League goals.

West Ham United plans to improve their defense.

The Hammers want Wan-Bissaka to be a part of their defensive revamp, which included signing centre-back Max Kilman this summer.

More transfer business is likely at the London Stadium this summer, as Lopetegui wants to continue his club’s spending spree on new players.

West Ham have now bolstered all of their positions with the additions of Kilman, Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham, Niclas Fullkrug, and Crysencio Summerville.
