‘It’s strange.’ Paul Lambert puzzled on what is being talked about Celtic and Brendan Rodgers this season.
Celtic fans have expressed concern about their team’s performances this season.
Brendan Rodgers’ slower, more methodical approach has replaced the free-flowing, attacking football that Ange Postecoglou favoured.
And, while the results have not been as good as last season, Celtic remain at the top of the Scottish Premiership, despite Rangers having a game in hand.
However, the negativity surrounding Celtic has not subsided, leaving former Hops captain Paul Lambert perplexed.
Lambert told [Football Faithful], “At Celtic, when you lose or draw a game, people want to hound you because that’s the pressure that comes with it.
“I believe he can handle everything up there; he has done it before and will do it again. This is a team that currently leads the league. Its strange.”
“It makes me laugh because I understand how it works up there; I played there for nine years. You’re only one bad pass away from a crisis, and if you can’t take the heat, this isn’t the job for you. Brendan will have no issues up there.”
Why Rodgers has received some serious criticism at Celtic.
In a way, I understand what Lambert is saying. From the outside, winning the league, regardless of how many games your opponent has, should be a positive outcome. But this is Glasgow.
Rodgers, on the other hand, has allowed a ten-point lead to slip after losing to Kilmarnock and Hearts in quick succession.
Celtic have also struggled against St Johnstone, Motherwell, and Hibernian. All teams were struggling for form at the time.
Coupled with the bizarre summer transfer window in which almost all new arrivals were deemed insufficient, and a lack of business in January, fans have every right to be dissatisfied with how this season has gone.
With 13 games left in the season, Rodgers cannot afford any more slip-ups, and with Kilmarnock visiting Celtic Park on Saturday, fans will be hoping for more of what they saw in Paisley at the weekend.
