‘It’s time to move on’ – Forward announces his Rangers exit
Alex Lowry has officially ended his 14-year association with Rangers, completing a move to League One side Wycombe Wanderers.

The 21-year-old midfielder departs Ibrox without making a single Scottish Premiership appearance this season, signaling the end of his journey with the club he has called home since childhood.
Lowry, whose contract was set to expire in the summer, shared his heartfelt farewell on Instagram after sealing the transfer on January 21.
Lowry’s Goodbye Message
“After 14 years at a place I called home, it’s time to move on,” Lowry began. “I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved within the club, from the laundry staff to the kitmen, to the people in the canteen, and everyone else. Your help and time from the day I arrived to the day I left was incredible!”
He expressed gratitude to former Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who handed him his debut at 18: “It has been an honour to represent this club, and a special thank you to Giovanni van Bronckhorst and staff for giving me my debut for this massive institution and fulfilling my childhood dream.”
Finally, Lowry addressed the fans directly: “Thank you for your amazing support from the time I broke through till now. I’ve appreciated every bit of it and loved playing in front of you, whether at home or away. Again, thank you and all the best in the future! We are the people!”

A Promising Talent Moving On
The Scotland Under-21 international leaves Rangers with fond memories, though his first-team opportunities were limited. After making his debut during the 2021/22 season, Lowry managed just 14 senior appearances for the Gers. Despite showing promise during a loan spell with Hearts, where he featured 17 times, he struggled to establish himself at Ibrox.
Fan Sentiment
As a boyhood Rangers supporter, Lowry’s departure has sparked an emotional reaction among fans, many of whom lament the lack of opportunities for academy graduates in the first team. While the move to Wycombe represents a new chapter for Lowry, it highlights ongoing challenges at Rangers regarding the integration of young, homegrown talents.
For Lowry, the switch offers a fresh start and the chance to showcase his abilities in a new environment. Rangers fans will undoubtedly keep an eye on his progress and wish him well as he begins this new journey.
