Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics was ejected for the first time in his NBA career against the New York Knicks.

Brown was ejected after picking up a technical foul for arguing a call in the fourth quarter and was ejected again shortly after when he went to the bench.

“To be honest, I’m not sure, but I wish I would’ve got my money’s worth,” Brown said. “I always thought my first career ejection would be something a little more exciting. Maybe a tussle or something, guys get folded up, go to the ground, not some overemotional ref who had a bad day. What I’m most upset about is I should’ve got my f—ing money’s worth.”

According to crew chief Mark Lindsay, Brown’s first technical was for “use of profanity toward a game official.” The second “T” stood for “a wave-off directed at the official, which under the respect of the game guidelines is considered an overt gesture and an unsportsmanlike act.”

“You could tell his emotions were involved,” Brown said. “Wanted to make it a back-and-forth. I’m explaining to the ref and he calls the second tech from the other side of the court, which is a clear example of somebody exercising their power to try to get somebody thrown out the game. I thought it was bulls—.”

The Celtics defeated the Knicks 133-123 in overtime. Brown had 17 points and four assists in 27 minutes, shooting 7-of-13 from the field, 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, and 1-of-1 from the free throw line.

After defeating the Knicks, the Celtics improved to 16-5 on the season. They currently hold the best record in the Eastern Conference. Brown, 27, has a season average of 22.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists.
