Before the formal end of last season, rumours about Celtic and potential summer transfer acquisitions began.

With much of the attention focused on who could potentially replace Celtic icon Joe Hart, rumours regarding who will join Celtic when the window officially opens will spread quickly.

Furthermore, in order to maintain the squad’s balance, players will have to go this summer.

This week, we addressed how Brendan Rodgers might supervise eight Celtic departures this summer.

While the number of fringe players at Celtic is essential, it will need to be balanced out when Rodgers adds to the group in the summer.

And Jim Duffy has highlighted four players he believes have no immediate future at the club.

Duffy believes Mikey Johnston and three others ‘will go’ this summer.

The former Hibs manager was asked by a Celtic supporter who he thought had a future at the club.

With several of last summer’s transfer incomings in the spotlight, Duffy highlighted two of them who he believes will undoubtedly leave, as well as two more periphery players.
Duffy said [Superscoreboard], “I think I would go for [Maik] Nawrocki, I’d keep him and the other two [Gustaf Lagerbielke and Odin Thiago Holm] can go.

“I think [James] Forrest will definitely be there. I think Yang will still be there. I think [Hyeongyu] Oh will go and I think Mikey Johnston will go.”

I doubt many Celtic fans would disagree with the majority of that list. However, I believe Odin Thaigo Holm still has a future with the club.

Why Celtic should keep Odin Thiago Holm.

The Norwegian’s toughest challenge since moving to Parkhead has been keeping up with the competition.

Let’s face it: he’ll never beat Callum McGregor. Holm faced a difficult task in breaking into the Celtic first team, as Tomoki Iwata and Paulo Bernardo were ahead of him in the pecking order.

At barely 21 years old, the youthful Norwegian under-21 international still has lots of time to develop into a good Celtic player.

If I were Brendan Rodgers (a admirer of the youngster), I would want to loan him out to another Scottish club so he could obtain regular play and become accustomed to the Scottish game.

Only then can a judgement be made about his future, but discarding him without first seeing what he can do would be extremely harsh to a young guy who was previously regarded as one of the best players of his time.
