Joe Hart response on Celtic fans’ boos after win over Ross County

Even though Celtic won three points against Ross County on Saturday, everything that followed left more questions than answers.

Brendan Rodgers’ performances have been inconsistent all season, so the sticky and dogged display over the weekend was not an anomaly.

You’d think Alistair Johnston’s fortunate goal after the first minute would have sparked Celtic’s offence.

Luis Palma, who went on to miss his spot kicks, including the retaken one, had the opportunity to do so, but it just didn’t click.

That’s why the home crowd booed at the end of the game, and Joe Hart stated that as players, ‘we just keep our focus’, as quoted by The Glasgow Times.

The Celtic number one admitted that he can feel the emotions on the pitch, but he is also ‘lucky’ that he does not understand the frustration because he is not a fan.

Joe Hart began his career as a teenager and worked his way up, winning numerous Premier League titles with Manchester City, so he hasn’t had the opportunity to see what it’s like from the stands.

That’s why, when asked about the booing from some fans after the win over Ross County, the 36-year-old remained upbeat.

“I’ve been lucky not to know how it feels to be a fan,” Hart said.

“Obviously, I can feel it on the park and have been part of many emotional situations. But as players we just keep our focus, and keep playing.

“One of the beautiful things about being in the team for the last three years is you wouldn’t actually know the scoreline because all we do is try to score goals. It’s not as easy as that and that was proven again. We’re obviously not going to hit the rhythm we were necessarily in previously.

“But we are a professional outfit, not a bunch of slobs who took a few days off and suddenly we’re playing football again. Not at all. We take our jobs seriously and no fitness lost. We just want to play together and see where we go.”

The January transfer window

At the start of the window, expectations were high, owing primarily to Rodgers’ repeated emphasis on the importance of ‘quality’.

Instead, he was only bolstered by the addition of winger Nicolas Kuhn, which should raise further concerns.

It’s not surprising that the fans’ mood is a little low.

But it is important to remember that what happens on the pitch is what matters most, and the team’s destiny is to win the title again.

Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke is on the brink of a transfer to Serie A side Lecce.

In other news, Joe Hart is pleased with Celtic’s ‘powerful’ internal moves this window.
