Celtic has a highly successful business model that has kept the club financially stable for the last two decades.

Even during the COVID season, when every club in Scotland felt the economic impact, Celtic were in such a strong position that they emerged relatively unscathed, off the pitch.
Since then, the club has grown in strength. Reaping Champions League group stage rewards for the third season in a row, combined with record turnover last year and a recent sky-high share price, it could be argued that Celtic is in the best financial position in their history.

And it is for this reason that former Celtic hero Johan Mjallby believes his old club will leave Rangers in their wake for many years to come.

Celtic won’t let Rangers ‘anywhere near another title’
The big Swede was a member of the legendary Martin O’Neill team that swept Dick Advocaat’s Rangers aside in the early 2000s and advanced Celtic to the 2003 UEFA Cup final.

And Mjallby believes that if Celtic uses its financial muscle in the transfer market, it will leave its competitors in the dust for years to come.

Mjallby stated [The Sunday Post print edition page 72]: “There are five or six weeks left in the window, and I expect some really good reinforcements to be added.”

“I’ve no idea what the budget is for players this summer but I would expect it to be a really healthy one.”Brendan may be able to look at the market for players priced around £6 million or £7 million.

“When you consider that the club signed Cameron Carter, Vickers, and Jota for that amount of money, you can see the level of talent available.

“Also, I believe that players in that price range are not significantly different from some players worth £15 million.

“However, winning titles and trophies should never be taken for granted. That is why additional new signings are required.
