Key player missing from Rangers training ahead of Kilmarnock game
Connor Goldson was not present at today’s Rangers practice.
The team led by Philippe Clement is getting ready for their most recent post-split match on Sunday afternoon against Kilmarnock.
The manager decided to go with Leon Balogun and John Souttar as a defensive duo, so the Ibrox mainstay has been on the bench for the last two games.
Moreover, it appears that he will miss yet another game because the 31-year-old skipped training prior to Killie’s arrival.
Sky Sports was at the Rangers training facility this morning to film the players being worked out.
“Just looking out there, I don’t see any Connor Goldson at training,” said reporter Luke Shanley.
That should be intriguing. Philippe Clement will provide an update later.
The midweek John Greig CBE Achievement Award was presented to the defender at the Ibrox club.
Goldson’s condition will be updated by Clement during his pre-game press conference.
In the meantime, a report claims that Rangers have demanded payment from Dundee for the two postponed games at Dens Park in recent weeks.
According to The Scottish Sun, the Ibrox club has claimed a five-figure payment for expenses from another Premiership team in the top six.
Rangers are rumoured to want Dundee to cover the expenses of their two pre-match stays in St Andrews in addition to travel costs.
The postponed games, which were scheduled for March and April, respectively, have already proven expensive for Dundee, as Sky Sports was compensated £30,000 for missing out on two broadcast opportunities.
Dundee has paid for this as part of their £150,000 fine, of which £120,000 is deferred until the conclusion of the following season.
As the argument over the pitching situation continues, it looks like the Rangers have hit Dundee with another bill.
The Dens team will begin repairing their pitch after their season-ending home match against Kilmarnock on Saturday, May 18.
They will reportedly have to pay more than £180,000 for this.
