Celtic star Kyogo Furushashi has stated that he hopes to regain his scoring form “wherever” he goes next season.

The striker has been linked with a move to Urawa Red Diamonds this summer, with sources in Japan indicating that the cash-rich club is considering a massive deal to bring the 29-year-old back to the J-League this summer. However, while in his home country, he has openly declared that he is more interested in furthering his career in Europe than returning to Japan at this point in his career.

However, speaking with Nikkan Sports, the striker admitted he was dissatisfied with his own form last season, despite winning the Premiership and Scottish Cup, which extended his trophy-laden time in Glasgow’s east end following his move in 2021. Kyogo reflected on his season with Celtic, saying, “Personally, I was not able to score as many goals as I did last season. I am happy that we were able to send goalkeeper Joe Hart off in a good way in his retirement year.”

However, when pressed about his future plans, he responded coyly. Despite hints that a move to Urawa was out of the question, he admitted he wants to rediscover his scoring form, regardless of the team.

He stated, “I hope to make my presence felt wherever I am. I had some frustrating experiences (last season), so I hope to score more goals than that.”
