Kyogo should ‘wring’ Celtic star’s neck as Peter Grant identifies major issue up front.

Celtic haven’t exactly been firing on all cylinders in recent months when it comes to goals.

According to Peter Grant, Kyogo Furuhashi should be wringing Luis Palma’s neck in recent times, as the number of opportunities available to him has decreased.

Celtic had a poor summer transfer window, with only Palma and Paulo Bernardo standing out as decent signings. Fans have been outraged by the money wasted on players like Maik Nawrocki, Gustaf Lagerbielke, and Odin Thiago Holm, who have failed to contribute significantly at Parkhead in recent months – and Palma remains a shining light.

The Honduran winger started his Celtic career well and appeared to be a decent replacement for Jota, who left for Saudi Arabia in July – but in recent games, he’s missed a few chances and his creativity has dried up, with only three assists and no goals in his previous eight Scottish Premiership games. Grant believes this is due to a shift in his playing style, and the Hoops legend believes Kyogo should be ‘wringing Palma’s neck’ about the lack of opportunities he has from out wide.

Grant told Go Radio: “I believe there is a balance of what the team needs to be. You mentioned the Rangers game against Aberdeen, which they lost [in October], and you consider what happened in the early kick-off that day, Celtic versus Motherwell. Palma excelled at cutting inside and crossing, resulting in successful goals. Now he’s passing square, which indicates a problem. If I were Kyogo, I’d wring his neck over the number of chances that aren’t going into the box.

“I would go with Maeda, Kyogo, and Palma. But I would tell him that once you beat someone, you must deliver. He can do it, but I hope he doesn’t get carried away with the praise he’s receiving. The only reason I’m saying that right now is because you need these guys. He needs to perform. And I wouldn’t just let the manager tell him; if I were Kyogo, I’d tell him to put the ball in the box, and if he misses those chances, you can say ‘alright’.”
