Manager says his club are now unlikely to sign ‘special’ Nottingham Forest player after talks collapse
A Nottingham Forest player is now set to remain at the City Ground after exit talks collapse.
To be in compliance with Profit and Sustainability regulations, the East Midlanders will need to trade in the transfer market, just like any other Premier League team.
The manager of the team has admitted that they were unable to come to an agreement with Nottingham Forest, and they have already offloaded 14 players and were in talks to sell a 15th. However, it has just come to light that a deal has fallen through.
Deal off between Caykur Rizespor and Jonjo Shelvey
The Daily Mail described Jonjo Shelvey as “special.” He played on loan at Caykur Rizespor during the previous season, and the Turkish team was in talks to sign him permanently this summer.
Negotiations have broken down because Rizespor was willing to offer £3.4 million for the 32-year-old, but Forest was adamant about wanting to pay £5.1 million.
According to Ilhan Palut, the manager of Rizespor, “it doesn’t look like he (Shelvey) will be returning to the club,” via Sporx.
“Without him, we plan our actions. I don’t think we could come to an understanding. We are planning something else.
Forest is obviously not a part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans, so he will now have to look for other suitors.
Nottingham Forest ought to start talking again.
Should no other bids be made for Shelvey, Forest ought to simply lower their asking price and accept Rizespor’s offer.
In this manner, it eliminates the possibility of losing him in a year on a free transfer, which at this point seems pretty likely barring a loan deal with a Championship team.
