As Celtic prepare to face Kilmarnock at Parkhead today, fans will be hoping for more of the performance that propelled Brendan Rodgers’ team into the Scottish Cup quarterfinals.
Celtic fans were ecstatic to see a significant improvement in performance quality and Kyogo Furuhashi return to scoring form.
And that is why Mark Wilson believes Brendan Rodgers may have discovered a fantastic new partnership at Celtic.

Wilson said [Superscoreboard], “I thought he’d put Kyogo and Idah in.” Kyogo can certainly play there, which demonstrates that you can score goals from that position.
“It doesn’t mean that when he drops deeper, he won’t get opportunities; it simply means readjusting his game and timing his runs.
“But he is an intelligent player. “It looks good.”
Idah and Kyogo might be a force for Celtic this season.

Celtic have had a prolific attacking duo over the years in the Scottish Premiership.
Obviously, Sutton and Larsson have been one of the best teams fans have ever seen in the modern era, and while I am not comparing that partnership to Kyogo and Idah, the point is that having two strikers with different qualities up front has its advantages.
Kyogo’s lone striker role simply does not work in Rodgers’ system. Kyogo thrived under Ange’s fast-paced, all-out attacking system, which was popular among Celtic fans.

However, this Rodgers team’s slow and patient build-up play undermines Kyogo’s abilities, and having Idah there to occupy defenders and create more space for the Japanese striker appears to be the way forward.
That worked against St Mirren last Sunday, and I fully expect it to work again today against Kilmarnock.
