Martin O’Neill Takes on Major New Role

The League Managers Association has named Martin O’Neill as its new chair. [Live in Leeds]
All managers in the Premier League, Sky Bet Championship, Leagues 1 and 2, and the Barclays Women’s Super League and Championship have their interests represented by the LMA.

O’Neill is renowned for his revolutionary tenure at Celtic, which started in 2000. Prior to that, the team was led by Kenny Dalglish and John Barnes. Under his direction, Celtic swiftly ended a run of poor performance, capped off by a decisive 6-2 triumph in his first Old Firm derby.

His debut campaign culminated in a domestic triple crown, Celtic’s first since Jock Stein’s in 1968–69. Under O’Neill’s leadership, his team made notable progress in European competitions, including a memorable run to the 2003 UEFA Cup Final in Seville, and they retained the league title the following year.

One of the most successful managers in Celtic history, O’Neill’s time there was characterised by a string of victories, including three League titles, three Scottish Cups, and a League Cup.
