Mikey Johnston Celtic transfer exit situation that has West Brom teammate fearing worst

The winger has been lighting up the English Championship thanks to some incredible form.

Because of Mikey Johnston’s stellar play for West Brom, his teammates worry that a permanent transfer would be too lucrative for them.

From the beginning of the season until the end, the Celtic loanee has been on fire at the Hawthorns, scoring six goals in ten games and dishing out one assist in the English Championship. The winger has not looked back since finding the back of the net just one minute into his debut against Cardiff, and many of his goals have also been incredible.

It’s something that has puzzled some Hoops fans as well as those in the south after he had trouble making the team up here and didn’t really have an impact when he did get a chance. The 24-year-old is more comfortable playing against fewer low blocks in the second tier down south, according to Albion captain Jed Wallace.

Wallace added that he and Johnston have been making jokes about how Johnston needs to slow down or else he might not be able to sign a long-term deal with West Brom.

“I did say to him he has to slow it down a bit because his price has gone up every game,” He said to talkSPORT. Celtic must have some wingers if he can’t get a game for them at the moment.

“He’s been unbelievable since he came in the door. He settled straight away and scored in his first start after about 30 seconds against Cardiff and hasn’t looked back to be honest.

“I think it suits more sometimes, obviously when you play for the big teams in Scotland every other team they play against put 10 men behind the ball.

“It’s a bit more open and he’s got real pace and when the game’s open it’s really suited him and he’s scored some unbelievable goals. But he’s doing great, he’s fitted in really well and hopefully he can keep his form up.”
