Motherwell set to sign Celtic winger on loan for the second half of season.
Brendan Rodgers isn’t the only Scottish Premiership manager who hasn’t been particularly busy bringing in new players in the last two weeks, with Rangers and Hearts each confirming one signing, while Aberdeen and Hibs have yet to sign anyone. Motherwell is one top-flight club that appears to be on the lookout for a new signing, and it appears to be a current Celtic player.
According to multiple reports, winger Adam Montgomery will join the Steelmen on loan for the second half of the 2023/24 season. The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season with EFL side Fleetwood Town before being recalled earlier this month.
He joined the club while Scott Brown was still in charge, but his opportunities were limited when the Celtic legend was replaced by former Hibs manager Lee Johansson, and he made only six appearances at Highbury Stadium. Motherwell reportedly beat off competition from other SPFL teams and clubs south of the border to secure Montgomery’s services.
The winger, who has also played left back, will be on his fourth loan away from Celtic Park and his third in the Scottish Premiership, having previously spent time with Aberdeen and St Johnstone. Celtic’s youth academy graduate, who signed his first senior contract in 2019, has made 10 first-team appearances for the club.
