Murillo update as Nottingham Forest injury situation explained after Everton win

Nuno Espirito Santo, the head coach of Nottingham Forest, is hoping that center-back Murillo’s condition is not life-threatening.

Murillo hurt himself during the Goodison Park warm-up, forcing the Reds to make a last-minute lineup change for their matchup with Everton. Nuno had planned to start with a three-man defense, but after the Brazilian center-back was replaced by winger Ramon Sosa, he switched back to a four-man defense.
However, Forest’s momentum was unaffected by the personnel change, as they defeated the Toffees 2-0 to record their fifth consecutive Premier League victory. Nuno’s team moved up to second place in the rankings as goals from Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White secured the three points on Merseyside.

Nuno stated, “We worked with Murillo to prepare for the game.” He began the warm-up, but his adductor felt too stiff and painful.

The athlete wasn’t at ease, so it came down to whether or not to risk him. Although the preparation and shape-changing processes were completed quickly, the jobs were essentially the same.

Being aggressive and preventing Everton from feeling at ease on the field were the goals. Considering how little time there was between games, the players performed admirably.

“Let’s assess (Murillo). His adductor was very stiff and he wasn’t able to kick the ball. I hope it is nothing.”

The Reds were already without wide man Callum Hudson-Odoi before Murillo sustained his injury. The former Chelsea winger was not part of the match day squad due to a slight knock he picked up in the win over Tottenham Hotspur, while Aston Villa loanee Alex Moreno was also absent with a minor issue.

“Callum got a knock in the last game,” Nuno said. “It was a dead leg and it was too painful for him to join us, although he tried to in the last moment. Hopefully he will recover for the next one because we need everybody.”
