As Andrew Omobamidele plays for the Republic of Ireland, the national media responds.
Icelandic coach Heimir Hallgrimsson has taken over as manager of Ireland, but things haven’t gone well for him so far.

The Irish were defeated 2-0 once more, this time by Greece, who were captained by former Forest custodian Odysseas Vlachodimos, following their 2-0 loss to England on Saturday.

Omobamidele participated in the game as a member of a back three and was mentioned in several national media publications.

“Omobamidele pushed high up the pitch in the first half, helping to push Chiedozie Ogbene further upfield in tandem,” Balls wrote, awarding him a 5.5/10. But in the last third, he consistently lacked consistency with his ball handling.

“Omobamidele tracked back well, but he was somewhat out of position when Greece targeted the right-hand flank.”

Despite receiving a yellow card in the first half, he “brought pace and solidity to right back position,” according to The Irish News, which gave him a slightly better rating of 6/10. In the last 20 minutes, the manager decided to go with the more aggressive Doherty.

Ultimately, he received a 7/10 from the Irish Independent for his efforts, stating that he “came in for his 10th cap but picked up a cheap booking early on.” However, throw in a few daring challenges, especially on 40 minutes. An excellent shift prior to Matt Doherty taking over.

Omobamidele faces waiting game at Forest

This was a good opportunity for Omobamidele to get some game time under his belt after missing the Ireland vs. England squad.

Although the centre back hasn’t played for Forest in the Premier League this year, he did play against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.

Omobamidele wasn’t even on the bench against Wolves the previous game, which must be a major worry for the Norwich signing.

Omobamidele now has to wait anxiously to see if he plays for Forest, with the next international break coming up in four games.

On the day of the transfer deadline, Morato signed with Benfica, which inevitably moved him down the hierarchy on trentside.

At 22, Omobamidele does have time on his side and he will be working tirelessly to try and impress Espirito Santo in the coming weeks.
