It will be a major boost after securing Premier League survival last month.
Nottingham Forest is reportedly “confident” that they won’t have any more FFP problems this summer—even if they don’t sell their best players—because they will soon receive a £25 million cash infusion from a transfer.
Forest balancing on a tight budget
Forest experienced the full impact of the Premier League’s financial fair play regulations this season after engaging in excessive spending since their promotion to the Premier League was secured back in 2022.
Following the announcement that “an independent commission found Forest’s losses to 2022–2023 breached the threshold of £61m by £34.5m,” Nuno Espírito Santo’s team lost four points for breaking the rules. Forest appealed the ruling, but their case was turned down.
They were forced to battle for their Premier League lives, and they didn’t secure their place until the very last day of the season, when they defeated Burnley and Luton Town. However, it looked like this summer would be just as challenging, with early reports indicating that they would need to make more concessions to stay afloat and Premier League lawmakers barging into the City Ground.
There were worries that players who performed well for the Reds the previous season, like Murillo and Morgan Gibbs-White, might be forced to leave due to financial fair play concerns. But now, they’ve received support in that area, both from their fans and themselves.
Forest assured of adherence
This is because dependable Forest reporter John Percy has disclosed that Forest will not be required to part with either of their star players in order to comply with financial fair play regulations.

The Midlands club still needs to raise approximately £20 million, but they “are aiming to meet the £20 million figure before June 30 with the sales of fringe players” and the “amount required is understood to be lower than first estimated” in order to be compliant.
Orel Mangala, a midfielder, will help and provide much-needed cash injection; after a successful loan spell with Lyon, his £25 million departure is expected to become the club’s second-highest sale ever.
Ipswich Town is reportedly considering a move for O’Brien. In the meantime, it is stated that “former captain Joe Worrall, goalkeepers Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos, Lewis O’Brien, Emmanuel Dennis, and Josh Bowler are available and could bring in further profit.”
Even though it won’t significantly affect this summer, it is stated that “one sale may be required this summer to guarantee financial stability over future seasons” in relation to their key men.
It is stated that “significant offers for their players would have to be assessed” in the meantime, even though the club doesn’t necessarily need to sell for immediate safety but rather to enable them to continue spending this summer and beyond.
