Nicky Devlin’s private remarks following the Portugal draw demonstrate the importance of Celtic’s Anthony Ralston to Scotland.
Celtic’s Anthony Ralston’s half time Scotland struggles
Even though Ralston played the entire 88 minutes in the draw with Portugal, Devlin’s private remarks reveal just how important the Celtic defender is to his nation.
Duncan said on Superscoreboard, “I actually think Anthony Ralston was struggling at halftime, you know. And so eventually, there was the one at the end where Rafael Leao can do that to you, and he checked in, and then I think the calves [went] and Nicky Devlin came on.
However, once it was over, Nicky Devlin told me that he was asked in to have a quick look at the analysis they were doing, even at halftime. They hoped it would happen soon, just in case. [He was brought on for his first appearance].
