North Curve Celtic Announce the Return of The Celtic End
Celtic Women has made history in the Champions League, and they’ll have the iconic backing of the Green Brigade and Bhoys Celtic, as the return of The Celtic End has been announced for their inaugural group stage meeting against FC Twente.
Scottish football has never seen anything like this, as Celtic Women became the first Scottish team to ever go past the group stages of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Their historic trip begins at Hamilton’s New Douglas Park with a group stage match versus Twente.
An already historic occasion is expected to be made even more exciting by The Celtic End’s reappearance. The goal of the initiative, which is being led by the club’s ultras groups, is to transform Celtic Park’s traditional Celtic End into a stand that is well-known for its verbal and visual support of the team. This will allow Celtic fans to experience the atmosphere of Borussia Dortmund’s renowned Yellow Wall, which some were able to see in person on Tuesday.
With 15,822 spectators packing the stands to watch Celtic Women play Hearts on the thrilling last day of the SWPL season two seasons ago, this movement has already gained traction.
Towards the end of the previous season, though, The Celtic End’s continued attendance at women’s matches was called into question when the Green Brigade opted to boycott games over a disagreement over their location in the Jock Stein Stand. Now that they are back performing with full support, the Ghirls will play in front of an energetic, sold-out stand; tickets cost £12 for adults and £6 for children under 16.
Next Tuesday’s historic game against FC Twente is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. With The Celtic End back in action, Celtic Women will be hoping to create even more history on the European scene. It promises to be a spectacular night.
