“Not the Right Time” – Norwich Warned Off Nottingham Forest Starlet in Transfer Tug-of-War
Norwich City are reportedly weighing up a summer swoop for Nottingham Forest youngster Adam Berry, but fans and pundits alike are sending a clear message: this isn’t the kind of signing the Canaries need right now.

The 19-year-old attacker, currently in a contract standoff with Forest, has yet to make his senior debut after arriving from Manchester United last year — but his potential has caught the eye of Norwich, Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers, and Belgian side Westerlo, according to Teamtalk.
Berry’s Numbers: Promise Without Proof?
Berry has managed just nine Premier League 2 appearances this season (three starts), notching two goals and no assists — numbers that suggest promise, but also inexperience. Still, his versatility as a No.10 or winger could make him a long-term project for any suitor.
But at Carrow Road, the appetite for another project appears to be wearing thin.
Fan Verdict: “We Need Ready-Made Quality”
Speaking to Football League World, Norwich fan pundit Zeke Downes was frank in his assessment of the potential move — and questioned whether Berry brings anything the club doesn’t already have in abundance.
“I personally haven’t heard of Adam Berry.
But I guess he is a good age, and it’s a good club and he’s obviously not going to be given much of a chance there now because of [Elanga, Hudson-Odoi, Gibbs-White], so it doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not good enough.”

However, Downes went on to name-check several young attacking talents already signed by Norwich, including Oscar Schwartau, Ante Crnac, Matej Jurasek, and Amankwah Forson, suggesting the academy cupboard is already well-stocked.
“I don’t know whether we’re going to need another young player like that.
I would rather get an experienced-ish player… someone to directly replace Sainz.”
With Borja Sainz potentially heading for a summer exit and Lewis Dobbin’s future uncertain due to injury, fans are calling for a proven option aged 24–28 — not another teenager who needs time to develop.
Norwich’s Reality: Right Fit, Wrong Timing?
Sitting 11th in the Championship, Norwich are teetering on the edge of another promotion push or a stagnating mid-table rebuild. That makes the idea of signing a raw talent like Berry — while intriguing — perhaps a luxury they can’t afford right now.
Yes, if a cut-price deal with Forest can be struck, it might be worth taking the gamble. But if Berry is the only replacement for Sainz? Then the Canaries are taking a huge risk with their immediate ambitions.
Berry may be a bright spark for the future, but for now, Norwich need players who can deliver from day one — not after another year of waiting and hoping.
