Nottingham Forest ‘interested’ in AC Milan midfielder

Nuno Espirito Santo is thought to be interested in AC Milan midfielder Yacine Adli who could bolster the Reds’ squad ahead of the Premier League season

Italian reports claim Nottingham Forest is interested in AC Milan’s Yacine Adli.

According to Calciomercato, Adli is no longer in the Italian club’s plans ahead of the Serie A season opener against Torino next Saturday. A number of Premier League clubs, including Forest, have expressed interest.
The 24-year-old played infrequently during the previous campaign, but Paulo Fonseca, the new manager, is reportedly not a fan of the midfielder. Adli made 24 appearances in Serie A last season, but he only managed one goal, despite playing more as a defensive midfielder than a creative one.

The Frenchman began his career in the Paris Saint-Germain academy before finding it difficult to break into the starting lineup. In 2019, this led to a permanent move to fellow Ligue 1 team Bordeaux; he had made an impression during his two-season stay, which had earned him a transfer to Milan.
He made just six appearances in his debut season in northern Italy, but he was given an opportunity in the second half of the previous campaign when starting midfielder Rade Krunic moved to Fenerbahce.

Forest currently has Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare in the engine room, but if one of them gets hurt, Nuno might not have enough time left. Therefore, an addition is probably in store before the window closes.

It’s also believed that Brentford and Leicester would be interested in signing the player.

In March 2023, he discussed his philosophy on football in an interview with SportsWeek magazine. He stated, “I’m an atypical player: I can play a deep-sitting midfield, an attacking midfielder, and I have played as a left winger and false nine. Although I lack the strength to run 40 meters and outpace my opponent, I am able to read the game’s timing and “see” passes that others miss.

“If someone tells me: you’re poor, you don’t know how to play, I don’t listen. I repeat, for better or for worse, I try to stay in the middle, without ever feeling too happy for a compliment or too disappointed by a criticism.”
