Nottingham Forest player ratings vs Bournemouth: Murillo struggles but one star delivers a 2/10 disaster-class
Matz Sels: 4
The Belgian goalie would have been extremely unhappy by his defense’s failure to close down and could have done very little to stop Kluivert’s opening goal. However, Ouattara scored a fourth goal thanks to his failed save from a late strike.
Neco Williams: 5
Williams nearly escaped Bournemouth’s attack through the middle of the pitch, but he was unable to provide any encouragement for the front line moving forward.
Murillo: 3
Murillo was outmuscled for both of the striker’s goals and was no match for Ouattara up front for Bournemouth in a performance that no one could have imagined. I hope it’s simply a Brazilian exception.
Milenkovic, Nikola (4)
Although Milenkovic was not as directly at fault as Murillo, he did have an opportunity to give Forest a header early in the second half but was unable to convert.
Five Ola Aina
Aina decision to not close down the Dutchman was unclear because Aina was one of the players who was closest to him.
Ryan Yates: 3
Before being substituted at halfway, the Forest captain appeared to be having trouble keeping up with the game’s tempo as Bournemouth’s intense sprints prevented him from competing in the midfield.
Elliot Anderson: 4
Anderson’s defensive performance, in which he struggled with Yates and later Dominguez, is the only way to evaluate him given the absence of attacking danger in the entire team.
Anthony Elanga: 7
Elanga’s speed was definitely Forest’s best weapon in the game when he had a chance in the first minute, but his teammates simply weren’t finding him enough.
Morgan Gibbs-White – 4 In his lone contribution to the match, Gibbs-White had a good chance at 0-0 with a volley from the edge of the box; who knows what may have happened if that had gone in.
Jota Silva: 2
Elanga was the only way to counter the possession-hungry Bournemouth since Silva, who had been brought in to replace the injured Hudson-Odoi, lacked the direct threat that the Englishman provided.
In the second half, he received a yellow card and was substituted by Ramon Sosa, indicating that his afternoon had not improved.
Chris Wood: 5
Any Forest supporter knows what kind of game Wood plays best in, and today wasn’t one of them because he couldn’t get goals from his supporting teammates.
Substitute
Dominguez Nicolas – 5
struggled to contain the raging Bournemouth runs as much as Anderson and Yates did.
Morato: 5
unable to establish a Forest defense that was quite weak.
Alex Moreno: 5
Unlike his other defenders, he wasn’t put to the test defensively, but he took over from Williams and contributed little moving forward, just like his opponent had.
Ramon Sosa: 4
He did little to alter the game after taking Silva’s place, but it’s hard to criticize any of Forest’s attackers against Bournemouth.
Five Taiwo Awoniyi
When the Nigerian striker took Gibbs-White’s place on the field, the game was already over.
