Nottingham Forest saw one of their pre-season clashes abandoned on Tuesday evening.

Archie Whitehall, an academy standout for Nottingham Forest, is “recovering well” from a head injury following the postponement of their preseason friendly.

As part of their pre-season preparations, Forest’s academy played Alfreton Town on Tuesday night. However, the match was called off at halftime due to an injury sustained by Whitehall.

“Tonight’s pre-season fixture against Alfreton Town has been abandoned due to an injury to Archie Whitehall,” tweeted Forest’s official academy account. Archie is making a full recovery following a head injury. Archie has our best wishes for a quick recovery.

Whitehall needed medical attention after an incident that happened in the thirty-first minute when he challenged for the ball. After receiving treatment on the pitch, Jack Nadin took his place after 12 minutes.

The referee called halftime after play was permitted to continue for more than ten minutes. The match would thereafter be cancelled, it was announced.
“Unfortunately, following the injury to the Nottingham Forest player, tonight’s game is abandoned,” tweeted Alfreton Town FC, wishing Whitehall well. We hope Archie Whitehall heals quickly.

On Thursday night, Nottingham Forest’s first team will play their final preseason game against Olympiacos. Their preparations for Nuno Espirito Santo do not seem to have gone as planned; they defeated Chesterfield and Millwall but were held to a draw by Villareal and Sunderland.

Forest has been active in the summer transfer window thus far, and the new players will want to get started right away at the City Ground. On the first weekend of the 2023–24 Premier League season, they will play Bournemouth. Then, they will play Southampton and Wolves.
