Nottingham Forest star on Atletico Madrid’s three-man transfer shortlist

Nottingham Forest could be looking at any opportunities to do good business in the transfer window – even if it means losing a key talent.

To strengthen their defence, Atletico Madrid is reportedly considering a move for Murillo, a defender for Nottingham Forest.

The 21-year-old Brazilian has established himself as a vital member of the Premier League team, and he would undoubtedly demand a high price for his services if he were to leave the City Ground.
According to Fichajes, his outstanding performances helped Forest avoid relegation the previous season, and the La Liga team has taken notice of them.

Forest does not need to sell Murillo because he is a young talent with a contract at the City Ground that runs until 2028. They might be persuaded to do business and alleviate any additional financial difficulties with PSR if the price is reasonable.
The possibility of playing at the highest level of football and advancing his career, according to the website Fichajes, might persuade Murillo that leaving the team would be in his best interests.

Whether it would be in the best interests of the team to let him go will be decided by the Forest board and head coach Nuno Espirito Santo. There are already other teams expressing interest in the Brazilian besides Atletico.

Although nobody at the team would want to see them go, the Reds proved last season that difficult choices occasionally need to be made when it came to selling Brennan Johnson. Nuno expressed his displeasure that teams may have to let go of some of their best players due to the regulations and acknowledged he was prepared for interest in some of his star players this summer.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Taiwo Awoniyi, in addition to Murillo and Morgan Gibbs-White, have also been connected to other teams. West Ham United is reported to be interested in Awoniyi, and Tottenham Hotspur is rumoured to be watching the former.

Apart from any reluctant sales, Forest needs to reduce its headcount. Nuno desires to collaborate with a small team.
