Nottingham Forest take legal action against Sky Sports as owner warns Gary Neville: ‘This is not over’
Nottingham Forest have criticised the broadcaster for their coverage of a post by the club criticising Stuart Atwell
In response to Sky Sports’ coverage of a social media post, Nottingham Forest has filed a lawsuit; however, the club’s owner has criticised Sky Sports for lying.
The club publicly questioned referee Stuart Atwell’s appointment in April, alleging that he supports Luton and casting doubt on his integrity. This caused a strong backlash from some segments of the football media.
Following three penalty appeals Forest had during a 2-0 loss to Everton on April 21 having been denied by on-field referee Anthony Taylor, with Atwell on VAR upholding the rulings, Forest found themselves in violation.
“Three extremely poor decisions – three penalties not given – which we simply cannot accept,” Forest stated on X.
“Before the game, we informed the PGMOL that the VAR supports Luton, but they chose not to change him. Many times, our patience has been put to the test. NFFC will now weigh its alternatives.
Neville called the team’s April social media post akin to a “mafia gang statement,” and it was reported that Nottingham Forest was composing a letter to the broadcaster in response..the mail
“I mean, honestly, what the hell are they playing at?” Neville went on. It looks embarrassing, like a whiny child.
“I can bring you 100 examples of times they (Sky Sports and pundits) exaggerated, didn’t say the truth, and humiliated people,” said Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, who defended the club’s statement.
Given that he is a director of Salford FC, Neville must also abide by FA regulations. Despite his ludicrous remarks about the club, the FA has taken no action.
“I have to exercise caution because our solicitors have already contacted Sky about Neville, and this matter is not yet resolved. He hurt people with remarks and language that weren’t appropriate, didn’t reflect reality, and
In order to better assist players and staff in understanding VAR and the decision-making process, Clattenburg accepted a consulting position with the Midlands club. However, on Friday, he announced his resignation due to several issues involving the team and referees.
According to the Mail, Sky Sports took down an article from their website on Friday night in which Gary Neville seemed to retract remarks he had made about Mark Clattenburg and to call for his resignation.
