Nottingham Forest want £25m-rated midfielder they scouted before signing Ibrahim Sangare

The player Nottingham Forest is currently trying to sign was scouted by the team prior to last summer’s signing of Ibrahim Sangare.

Regardless of the division they are in, the Reds will be active in the transfer market this summer.
Financial fair play will probably remain a top priority for Forest, but some new additions will unavoidably be made as well.

After Brennan Johnson left, Sangare signed for £30 million, making him the club’s record signing. He had previously played for PSV.

It has now been reported that Forest wants to bring in a player who was targeted last summer as an Ivorian substitute.

This summer, the defensive midfielder will be in high demand, and Royal Antwerp reportedly wants to win it all.

Het Nieuwsblad claims that Forest, West Ham and Manchester United are vying for his signature during the window.
Ahead of the start of the transfer window, it is also rumoured that Blackburn, Leeds, and Norwich are all keeping a close eye on the midfield player.

With regard to Keita, the Belgian team is hoping to strike it lucky; they estimate his worth to be slightly over £25 million.

At the conclusion of his loan, Antwerp will purchase the player from OH Leuven; however, the player may already be on his way to England in the summer.

Despite recording three assists this season, it’s safe to say that the player primarily possesses defensive skills.

With 21 appearances, Keita has amassed 84 tackles, ranking him ninth among central midfielders in the Jupiler Pro League.

Along with 968 successful short passes this season, he has also made 41 interceptions, according to Who Scored.

In the early stages of his career, Keita, 21, spent time on the books at Genk after coming through the youth ranks at Leuven.

The player received recognition in 2023 for his excellent club play, which led to an opportunity to represent Belgium internationally.

The signing of Keita might not be good for Sangare.

We believe that Keita and Sangare should not be in the squad because they appear to perform similar roles based on the stats.

Should Keita join Forest, Sangare’s career may come to an end, and the club may believe they will receive their money back.

While the 26-year-old hasn’t performed poorly for Forest, he hasn’t quite lived up to his high price.

However, the Ivorian certainly merits a full preseason at the City Ground, where supporters could witness Sangare at his peak while wearing a Forest shirt.

Although Keita is being chased by some larger clubs than Forest, Sangare may have to leave the team if Keita does wind up on the banks of the River Trent.
