Nottingham Forest face a battle for the young star.
Plans for summer transfers at Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest faced a steep uphill battle to stay in the Premier League for another season after they were docked four points earlier this year. But even though they weren’t exactly at their best in the last month of the season, Forest managed to beat Luton Town on the last day to guarantee their spot in the top flight.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s focus will now shift to the summer transfer window of 2024 and making sure they don’t have to face another last-minute struggle for survival like they did this season. The rumour that star player Morgan Gibbs-Whites is in talks with Tottenham about joining the team in the summer is a setback for Forest.
However, there is still hope for the Reds because several players are expected to sign deals to join them at the City Ground. According to recent reports, Forest attempted to purchase Las Palmas custodian Alvaro Valles in January for 20 million euros (£17 million), but the Spanish team rejected their offer.
Forest chose to sign Matz Sels in his place, but there are still rumours that they might make a run at the Spaniard this summer, and they are still listed as the “main interested party” in signing him.
In other news, Forest is reportedly among three Premier League teams vying for the services of talented Toulouse defender Logan Costa, suggesting that they are determined to strengthen their defence.
Forest is aiming for an £8,000-per-week “revelation” for Nuno.
An update has now been released regarding another summer transfer target for Nottingham Forest. Bradley Locko of Stade Brestois is the player in question. Manchester United reportedly expressed interest in the left-back over the weekend, according to French publication Jeunes Footeux [via Sport Witness]. However, Locko has long been a target for Nottingham Forest and Fulham.
All three teams, especially United, would be able to pay the full back’s £8,000 weekly salary. However, according to Jeunes Footeux, Manchester United is not prioritising the Frenchman, which may satisfy Fulham and Forest. Instead, the Old Trafford team is preferring to make a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Locko’s transfer fee was €500,000, which Brest paid to make the fullback from Stade de Reims permanent after he signed him on loan in January 2023. The report also states that Brest must receive at least €20 million from any club interested in the young player in order to approve his sale during the next window. This implies that Brest would receive 40 times the amount they paid for the 22-year-old just one year after making a permanent signing.
The left-back has contributed three assists in 35 games for the Ligue 1 team this season, earning praise for being “a revelation” in the top division of French football.
