When Everton hosts Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park this weekend, they have a daunting task ahead of them.

Although there isn’t much to expect from this match in terms of quality—both teams have only won once in their last eight games—it will be crucial in the overall relegation struggle. The Toffees could move into a somewhat safe position with a victory. They would undoubtedly be doomed to a nervous, nerve-wracking final five games if they lost.

All Sean Dyche needs to do is make sure he can neutralise the threat the visitors will present tomorrow.

Ironically, the home crowd is involved as well.
Despite their history of being ardent team supporters, recent events have strained relations between them and caused widespread unrest. The 6-0 thrashing on Monday night also did little to close that deficit.
But, Goodison Park can get nasty if things don’t go as planned, whether it’s due to poor quality or effort.

Nuno, like many other Premier League managers, is probably aware of this, and he intends to make use of it.

“I am aware of their strength at Goodison Park and the difficulty of facing them,” he asserted. This will be a difficult game. Playing well, maintaining control, and winning the game is part of the plan. Should that occur, the throng is silent. We need to be prepared.

There will be times when the crowd gets rowdy and we don’t have the ball. In those situations, we must remain resilient.

Goodison Park needs to defend Everton.

After showing up to help the players cross the finish line in the previous few seasons, this one is probably the most challenging, making it crucial to do so once more.

But it’s not surprising that fans are worn out.

It’s the third season in a row that they’ve been involved in a relegation battle, and this year hasn’t been easy for Evertons with all the deductions and takeover drama thrown in.

They could afford to withhold a little bit of their support.
But it’s just not a viable option.

It promises to be a cauldron of noise that can hopefully inspire the home team, with the fan group The 1878s having formulated a number of crucial strategies to hopefully boost the atmosphere.

But most importantly, the fans need to keep on cheering even if they fall behind. Above all, this is a game in which you cannot lose.
