Nuno sends clear message after Nottingham Forest quartet visit ski resort
For four Nottingham Forest players, a New Year’s excursion to the French Alps was centered on trust and teamwork.
Nuno Espirito Santo, the head coach, gave his team permission to take a week off. The Reds defeated Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park last Sunday to make it five straight Premier League victories. They won’t play again until Monday night, when they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers (8 p.m. kickoff).
Pictures posted on Instagram show how attacker Morgan Gibbs-White, winger Anthony Elanga, full-back Neco Williams and midfielder Elliot Anderson rung in 2025 together, along with their partners, at the resort of Val D’Isere. However, Nuno has insisted the quartet did not take to the ski slopes.
More than anything, the tour demonstrated to the Portuguese how cramped the Forest dressing room is. During their incredible first half of the season, his players’ relationship has been clear both on and off the field.
“They did not ski. They are healthy,” Nuno said. “When I saw the news, I was worried. But I trust them, because they are responsible boys.
“They enjoyed themselves with their partners. They are healthy. I did not know (they were going there). But it is about trusting them.
“I asked them when they got back if they had skied. Unless there is a photograph or a (social media) post that comes that says something else…
“They are okay. Things can happen. You can fall off a ladder at home. Life is to be enjoyed.
“Our break was enjoyable. We had a chance to allow the players to leave the field. How could I say no when they’ve been doing so well? It’s good.
Last time out, Gibbs-White helped defeat the Toffees with his third goal of the season. Nuno and the attacker have worked together at Wolves, thus Monday’s match at Molineux marks their reunion with their old team.
