‘One of the worst I’ve seen’… Alan Rogers thinks Nuno has to drop 29-year-old Forest star

Alan Rogers believes Nuno Espirito Santo must drop Nottingham Forest custodian Matt Turner.

The man who made 178 appearances for the Reds has spoken with The Red Side of Trent podcast.

What Rogers said about Forest stopper Turner.

Rogers has never been one to sit on the fence, and his views on Turner have remained consistent.

Turner joined Forest from Arsenal this summer, costing the club £10 million.

Although his shot-stopping ability has been fairly consistent, his distribution has left much to be desired.

Turner has made high-profile mistakes against Liverpool and Arsenal, and Forest’s goalkeeping situation presents Nuno Espirito Santo with a conundrum.

Rogers believes Turner is simply unable to play for Forest in the future and expects the head coach to address the situation.
He stated on The Red Side of the Trent podcast, “Matt Turner isn’t a bad custodian, but he’s one of the worst I’ve ever seen with the ball at his feet.” Nuno cannot play in goal for Forest because of his style of play and the current state of football. He just can’t; he needs to be replaced. He is costing Forest.

“You just can’t do it when you’ve got a custodian who’s going to give you that advantage. This could mean the difference between staying in the Premier League or being relegated.Look, I believe Nuno will address this in the window, and he will do so sharply. Unfortunately, it is cutthroat, but Turner cannot play goal for Forest this season; otherwise, he will cost us a lot of points.
Forest’s custodian situation is perilous.

This is becoming quite a desperate situation for Forest, and Rogers makes some very valid points about Turner.

Turner would have cost Forest points once more if they hadn’t recovered and defeated Manchester United.

His failed attempt to find Danilo with a pass in front of his goal resulted in Alejandro Garnacho setting up Marcus Rashford to equalise for United.

Odysseas Vlachodimos was given the opportunity to stake his claim for a place in the FA Cup match against Blackpool.

It’s fair to say that he didn’t cover himself in glory. Jose Sa, a custodian from Wolves, has been linked with a move to Forest.

That particular deal may be relatively simple to complete, but will the hierarchy justify another custodian acquisition?

After spending £20 million on two goalkeepers only six months ago, Forest may prefer Espirito Santo to stick with Turner or Vlachodimos.

Given the ongoing disagreements between the two goalkeepers, it will be interesting to see how the head coach views things now that the transfer window has opened.Blackpool scored with their only two shots on target in the game.
