Opinion – Latest Adam Idah Injury Update Shows How Inaccurate Kettlewell’s Comments Were
Adam Idah of Celtic is currently sporting a protective boot after Motherwell center-half Liam Gordon viciously challenged him on Sunday.
Before Wednesday night’s Scottish Premiership matchup with Dundee, Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers gave supporters an update last night on the health of some of his top stars.
Rodgers seemed hopeful that Callum McGregor would recover, even though Idah was obviously hurt by Gordon’s overbearing tackle. Whether he will be ready for tomorrow’s game is still up in the air.
shot and scores in the 88th minute to give Celtic a 3-0 lead.
Stuart Kettlewell, the manager of Motherwell, was incredibly stupid in defending Gordon’s challenge, as evidenced by the fact that the Irishman had to wear a protective boot a few days after the match.
Despite Gordon’s sliding tackle meeting the requirements for a red card—excessive force and jeopardizing an opponent’s safety—Kettlwell defended the 28-year-old after the game, calling his dismissal “really, really harsh.”
A few viewings of the tackle back make such a perspective quite perplexing.
Gordon forcefully pushed in with an extending leg, and the fact that Idah is now wearing a protective boot demonstrates both how awful it was and how inadequately Kettlewell evaluated it.
It also speaks for itself that we have not heard anything about a Motherwell appeal for the dismissal two days after it occurred.
