Outcast to “Golden Boy” – Chris Sutton’s claim in Celtic’s title push
Chris Sutton’s latest Daily Record column highlights the potential impact that the return of Reo Hatate and Callum McGregor could have on Celtic’s title hopes.
Sutton notes that, while Hatate’s season has been marred by injuries and being out of favour under Brendan Rodgers, his recent participation in a bounce game, in which he played 45 minutes, indicates that a return is imminent.
Sutton recognised Hatate’s ability to influence games with his talent and predicted he could be Celtic’s “golden boy” if the Hoops win the league.
Furthermore, Sutton emphasises the importance of Callum McGregor’s potential return to the squad. Despite fears that McGregor’s season could be cut short due to an Achilles injury, Rodgers has maintained a positive outlook on his recovery.
With Celtic preparing for crucial matches, including an Easter Sunday away trip to Livingston, Sutton emphasises the importance of having both McGregor and Hatate available for the title run-in.
He wrote in his RecordSport column, “Reo Hatate wasn’t in favour at the start. Now he could well be golden boy at the end.
“Hatate and Callum McGregor are the two best midfielders in Scotland. If Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers can have them both back fit and firing for the run-in, it’ll be a monumental boost for the defending champions at a perfect time. Let’s face it, Hatate has endured a horrendous season. He was my Player of the Year last term with his fabulous talent and ability to make things happen with his excellence.”
