“Outstanding”… Brendan Rodgers was over the moon with £1 million.
Brendan Rodgers praised a Celtic player who helped them reach the Scottish Cup quarter-finals yesterday.
The Hoops’ 2-0 victory over St Mirren earned them a home match against a struggling Livingston team, and after seeing a much improved Celtic, Rodgers will be confident of progressing to Hampden.
However, the Celtic manager was full of praise for Joe Hart’s contribution to the victory in Paisley. The £1 million man was back to his superb best after making a string of saves to ensure Celtic won at the SMISA stadium.
Brendan Rodgers praises ‘brilliant’ Joe Hart after Celtic victory.
The Celtic manager was in fine form as he spoke with Neil Lennon after the game. When Lenny suggested that Hart receives unfair criticism, Rodgers couldn’t agree more.
Rodgers told Viaplay Sports, “He’s been brilliant. He’s very clean. He alleviates any pressure that may arise.
“Some of the teams put in real quality crosses and he deals with that really well.”
With recent rumours indicating that Rodgers may be looking to replace Hart soon, the Celtic custodian has given the Hoops manager some food for thought.
Joe Hart’s Celtic contract
Contract is up for renewal in the summer, and the 36-year-old has been open about his thoughts on an extension.
When asked about his situation in January, Hart replied, “I don’t think it’s too important right now, to be honest. We need to prioritise more important tasks.I’ve always said that I’m just excited to play football and haven’t given much thought to the other aspects.
“I’m contracted to this amazing club and I love turning up every day and doing my best.”
I suggested at the time that Celtic look into offering the experienced custodian an additional year on his current contract.
Joe Hart demonstrated yesterday that, in addition to his importance off the pitch, he can still produce results for Celtic on his best days.
