Paul Pierce Shares Credit for LeBron James’ NBA Success

Former NBA player Paul Pierce is notorious for his absurd opinions, particularly against the Miami Heat.

He once said he had a better career than Heat superstar Dwyane Wade. On Friday, Pierce made yet another accusation.

During an appearance on Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed,” he claimed some of the credit for LeBron James’ NBA success.

According to Pierce, James’ rise began when he led the Miami Heat over the Boston Celtics in the 2012 Eastern Conference semifinals. Pierce was then a Celtics player.

“I truly feel responsible for taking LeBron to that next level,” Pierce told reporters. “When he moved to Miami, Game 6 in Boston, we had them on the verge of making it back to the Finals. “I believe that was the game that propelled LeBron to the next level.”

The classic Game 6 is undoubtedly James’ finest effort. The Heat trailed 3-2 into an away game in Boston. A loss would have effectively terminated the Big Three era of James, Wade, and Chris Bosh in Miami, as it would have meant a second consecutive year without a championship.

James ended with 45 points and 15 rebounds, keeping the Heat alive. They won Game 7 in Miami before defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in the championship game. It was the first of James’ four NBA championships.

And he can thank Pierce for that, right?
