Nottingham Forest
Pep Guardiola’s favourite head coach is being considered by Nottingham Forest to take Nuno Espirito Santo’s place.
With a 2-1 victory over Burnley yesterday, the Reds maintained their Premier League standing as they concluded their campaign.
Even though Nuno Espirito Santo succeeded in keeping Forest in the top division, there are still some questions surrounding him at the City Ground.
Espirito Santo’s future at Forest is not assured, according to Fabrizio Romano’s statement earlier today, although negotiations are expected to take place.
A head coach that has received accolades from four-time Premier League champion Guardiola is currently on Evangelos Marinakis’ shortlist.
Nottingham Forest desires Zerbi Roberto
It’s safe to say that, even though it’s hardly shocking, this news would still be extremely shocking if Forest were to succeed.
Italian football journalist Paolo Bargiggia claims that Forest is eager to talk about the possibility of using the Italian to take Espirito Santo’s place.
But the Reds are not alone—De Zerbi is ranked first on the managerial shortlists of AC Milan and Marseille.
Just before Brighton lost to Manchester United on the last day, De Zerbi made an announcement that he was leaving Brighton.
Under the 44-year-old, Brighton has really taken off, and the previous season they participated in the Europa League and made it to the round of 16.
Considering how highly Guardiola had praised De Zerbi earlier in the season, it came as a bit of a surprise that he was leaving.
During his tenure at the AMEX Stadium, De Zerbi managed 89 games, overseeing 38 victories and 29 losses.
A gifted manager would be a revolutionary hire.
The connection that has been found between De Zerbi and Forest isn’t particularly surprising, but it would be shocking if a deal could be reached.
Such a reputable coach has very high standards, and bigger clubs are already taking admiring looks at him.
De Zerbi’s appealing style of play has drawn attention, but the Seagulls’ 2023–2024 consistency was severely damaged by the European campaign.
Although his team usually plays in a 4-2-3-1 formation, the head coach aggressively presses opponents when they don’t have the ball.
Although Forest would probably benefit greatly from that industrious, driven style of play, supporters shouldn’t get too attached to De Zerbi just yet.
