Fabio Silva may desire a longer-term transfer to the Rangers.
The Portuguese U21 international might even be able to persuade Wolves to let him play one more season in Glasgow.
Although Silva has stated that he will do “everything” to remain at Ibrox, many Rangers supporters are seriously considering a summer transfer due to the forward’s performance.
So much so that there’s a belief that Rangers would be crazy to fund a transfer for the wasteful striker who just doesn’t put up enough effort in front of goal.
Another harsh criticism of Fabio Silva’s square, ineffectual contribution to the Rangers is that he was not accountable for his attacking duties during the loss to Ross County.
Additionally, the £35 million striker is being tried by Rangers supporters as something of an attacking fraud, and the jury is strongly inclined to find him guilty.
The player’s statistics from the Scottish Premiership provide incriminating proof.
Fabio Silva squandering Rangers’ chance
There were some raised eyebrows when the Rangers’ roster for their game against Ross County was revealed. Fabio Silva was one of those players.
After scoring two goals in a row off the bench, Welsh winger Rabbi Matondo was regarded as deserving of a starting spot over the stuttering Portuguese.
However, we were incredibly wasteful in front of goal once more. Rangers has two forwards, Fabio Silva and Cyriel Dessers, who wouldn’t look out of place in the lower leagues of the English Football League.
Abdallah Sima, who was making his first start following a protracted injury layoff, is given the bye because of his campaign-long contributions.
It’s actually fairly easy.
You can tell there’s a problem when you have to start blaming forwards for not scoring goals.
These guys have been the reason we do this since they first wore our colours.
Philippe Clement needs to clean up the frontline’s waste.
For Rangers, it’s not just about one player—there are a few of them. Fabio Silva and Cyriel Dessers are the two forwards who have the most potential to score goals at Ibrox.
There is a serious issue if Rangers’ forward line isn’t scoring enough goals in front of goal, and Philippe Clement will have to make a big decision in the coming weeks.
There is a significant risk to the outcome of the Scottish Premiership if Rangers choose to start Fabio Silva at the top of the park.
The Portuguese forward simply doesn’t make enough of an impact in the closing third to be preferred over Rabbi Matondo or Abdallah Sima for that left-wing position.
Beyond that, though, the Belgian player should accept it if Clement genuinely wants Fabio Silva to be a member of his frontline for the upcoming campaign.
These platitudes about forwards not needing to score goals should be forgotten.
Wastefulness has characterised Rangers’ season, and if it continues into the upcoming league season, Clement’s tenure will be limited as well.
